Rooiels is a Conservancy located within the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve. This involves the need to maintain certain protocols to ensure coexistence with the wildlife, including baboons. However, as baboons are very fond of human food, this means finding ways to limit any opportunity for them to access our food or waste products and keep them out of our houses.

As preparation for the Indaba, a Pathway and Context was developed for the Survey which was sent out to all Rooiels ratepayers and long term resident households. Surveys have been carried out in 2001 and 2018. You can see the results of previous surveys on this link . The preparation for the Indaba included collating all previous posters and information shared. Click to go to al the collected existing baboon information materials developed over the years. You may like to print and laminate some and display prominently in your house for guests. It is important to reduce opportunities for baboons to access human food.
