The Western Cape Government is considering building a road through Fernkloof Nature Reserve. If built, this road will destroy rare and priceless lowland fynbos. No clear need has been established for the road, which is budgeted to cost over R200 million - money which is very definitely needed elsewhere. The Hermanus Botanical Society has set up a petition in order to urge Donald Grant, MEC for Tranport in the Western Cape, to put a halt to this proposal. Please CLICK HERE to join us in signing the petition. Please forward this to anybody who cares about our Fynbos heritage or anybody who loves Hermanus. Thank you. Sincerely, Antony Van Hoogstraten, Hermanus Botanical Society For those who would like more detail you can download the Whale Coast Conservation Response to the Initial Scoping Report on the road ![]()
