RERA Members newsletter March 2022

This is to confirm to you that the approved RERA Exco Minutes are available on the Website.  The Minutes of the 5th March meeting are not yet available as they need to be approved at the next Exco meeting to be held on 2nd April, 2022 before being published.  Going forward there will normally be an Exco meeting every second month on the afternoon of the Hack.  The Exco are in constant touch with each other between meetings to discuss and respond to specific issues as they arise through email or WhatsApp.
 
The RERA response to the Firewise vacant erf policy and the Environmental Management Plan are included on the RERA Ward Feedback blog.   The Committee has been supported by various Rooiels residents to assist with baboon bin repairs, dune conservation, documenting the road reserves that we need to attend to in order to avoid OM contractors damaging the road reserves.  The OM stopped what was happening as soon as we complained to the right person but unfortunately not before they had cleared a small (but devastated) area along Rocklands Road, most of it actually on private property.
 
There are also volunteers who have been watering the Rooiels gardens and they have been kept weeded of alien plants and the new young seedlings that have self-sprouted (mainly Polygala) are being encouraged.  The area where all the plants were destroyed by two water pipe leaks last year, have not been replanted.  The summer months are not the right time for replanting.  They will be replanted with locally indigenous fynbos when the time is appropriate to do so.
