Rooiels Chat - which includes information shared about the broader region around us has a request for us to sign a petition to protect Fernkloof from a bypass road which appears to be going ahead without adequate impact assessment. Click on Rooiels Chat to see the information.
Reminded by Helen's "Tweet" many in Rooiels observed Earth Hour on Saturday 19th March and much of the village was in darkness from 2030-2130. It was a great opportunity for star gazing and photos. We need to be conscious of reducing light pollution at night so that we can all enjoy our night skies.
The latest Tweet has details of an Eco-walk which Helen Jones will lead on 23rd March. Meet at the Drummond Arms at 8 a.m. Or if the weather is bad - it will be postponed to 26th
Catch up with the latest sightings and also an appeal to us all to collect plastic off the beach - including all those little pieces which do so much damage to marine life. Easter is open for recreational crayfishing -- let us hope the weather co-operates and wish the fisherfolk "tight nets" - or is it "heavy nets"! The latest Tweet brings a Red Tide alert. While it is probably not a toxic red tide it may be safer not to take mussels at the moment.
Later: Fri 4th in the evening there were reports that dead fish has been washing up at Zeekoevlei |
