a. The Bird Walk et al - now going to be renamed, thanks to Sandra, Eco-Walk and there will be another one at Easter.(Rooi Els Eco-Walk) - was productive with a pair of Cape Rockjumpers being a highlight and the heat being a downlight. In future, we will begin at 6.00 if hot ! The beach walk part revealed the Oystercatcher demise and a lot of our water birds with the tide covering the lagoon but nothing "out of the ordinary". Thank you Jill for pointing out some of the flora. b. Thank you Maurice for further info re eco bins ! "On the topic of baboon proof bins I attended the final ward committee meeting of 2015.There representatives from Betty's Bay and others present raised the issue of the council's responsibility to provide bins... As every municipality does. They also mentioned the bins we were told to get costing 700-850 Rand." The council was challenged to provide proper bins - it seems the murmur is growing in the Hangklip-Kleinmond area. c. Anyone wants the complete 2016 Bird List with months so that you can tick each month, then please just ask. d. The Beach Clean up was very badly attended - no more than eight of us. Think what delight and pleasure our beaches give us and although there was not the volume of litter or detritus because of the south easter breeze taking it out there were myriads of small plastic bits which DESTROY all marine animals and birds because they ingest them. So, perhaps you could train yourselves to pick up some of them when you wander along our beaches, even make it a FUN thing to do for adults and children alike with that incentive of saving our birds and marine life !! e. Check out the Tsitsikama petition. Soooooooo keep all that info coming and keep eyes and ears up, down and around and cameras to hand ! Have a TREMENDOUS 2016. Tweet
